Postscript from the office Monday morning –

Mary had a two-hour nap yesterday afternoon, waking about seven. We grabbed a bite to eat, and then started at Hyde Park Boulevard and Lake Park Avenue, just south of our house. From there we went west to Drexel, north on Drexel to Oakwood Boulevard (39th street), east to the lake drive (Lief Ericsson). North along the lake past the Fair, the Field Museum and Soldier Field to Grant Park. Across Seventh Street to Michigan Boulevard, North on Michigan Avenue Bridge and back. The Wabash Avenue bridge across the river very obligingly opened up just as we arrived, and the sight of a whole city street standing on end made quite a hit.

Mary’s getting acquainted with things pretty quickly. Yesterday I taught her how to run my typewriter, so you’ll probably be getting some letters from her as soon as she has mastered the mechanics of it. She thinks it’s quite a gadget.

We took the chicken apart yesterday… and what chicken it was. You should have heard the speculations from Dad and Mother as to the number of legs it had. Mary just grinned.

Tonight we’re going to a movie while Mother’s at a teacher’s meeting at the church. Tomorrow the two of them are going to invade the Loop and investigate one of the big stores — Marshall Field’s, I think.

No more time to write — sorry!

Glen
