Dear Linnet:

It’s the night before Christmas.

Mother and I have kept in touch with your girl all day long. The Milwaukee phoned that they have not had very good luck with their telegrams, as storms out your way have left a gap or two in telegraph lines. But their reports during the afternoon said that Mary was getting along just fine.

As I bulletined you early this afternoon, Miss Bracy called up laughing to read me a telegram from their representative from Mitchell. Evidently Mary had completely captivated the train crew, if we were to judge from the wire.

Mother and I are to meet a representative of the railroad in the station tomorrow morning about fifteen minutes before train time. He has been  instructed to go out with us and make sure that she’s in and all right. That’s some service, isn’t it?

As I promised, this letter will be mailed in the station mail box when we have actually taken your girl off the train and she is safely with us. It is almost like a receipt for her, if you could call it that.

She may have written you from the train on her new stationery, but I think you’ll have a note back in a day or two when she’s had a chance to settle down.

We think she’ll have a good time!

Glen
