Monday (5/7/34)

Dear Mary,

I’ve time for only a note with which to mail you some odds and ends.

I’m still lookin’ for that letter your mother was going to send me last week. My young mother wants to get all the figures and whatnot.

We were going to get you a load of clothes, but with true womanly intuition, [my sister] Helen put her foot down and insisted that you would probably want to pick your own. And what could be fairer than that? So Mother’s just going to get a few travelling things — nothing very much, but something tricky in which to travel. We hope that you’ll like them. When the sizes and all come, we’ll turn Helen loose to see what she can pick up.

Tell Mother that there will be a small though very important express package very late next week or sometime the week of the 20th. I’ll advise her definitely the date when to expect it. It’ll contain your tickets, and all sorts of other things.

I’ve got to run — I’m late for lunch now. Write soon and as often as you can.

Love,

Glen
